Gold, spirituality, and protection

I am a deeply spiritual person, and I also believe in the supernatural. At one point, a psychic told me that wearing even a small amount of gold whether 10K, 14K, 18K, or 21K could offer protection from bad intentions.

I do not present that as a scientific fact. I understand that gold cannot be proven to block negativity or protect someone from another person's intentions. But gold has carried protective and spiritual symbolism across many cultures for thousands of years.

Gold has often been connected with the sun, warmth, life, strength, purity, and permanence. Because it does not easily tarnish or corrode, many people have viewed it as a symbol of something enduring and difficult to corrupt. In different traditions, gold has been worn as an amulet, placed in sacred objects, given as a blessing, or used to represent divine light and protection.

Maybe that is why the idea resonated with me. Ever since then, whenever I wear gold, I feel as if I have an extra layer of protection around me.

It may be spiritual. It may be psychological. It may simply be the confidence that comes from wearing something meaningful.

But I feel it.

And sometimes, that feeling is enough.

The sparkle of achievement

I also love diamonds. I am not overly particular about whether a diamond is lab-grown or naturally mined. I love both. What captures me is the sparkle, the way light moves through the stone and suddenly makes an ordinary moment feel brighter.

Sometimes, when I am not too busy, I will stand in front of my jewelry glass cabinet and simply admire the pieces inside.

I have also received many jewelry pieces as gifts throughout my life. I am allergic to alcohol, so I do not drink, not even occasionally. I am also not especially interested in fine dining.

So, for the people close to me, jewelry has always been a much better choice.

Do not give me expensive wine. Do not take me to an elaborate dinner and expect me to be impressed. But place a beautiful jewelry box in front of me, and you will probably see an entirely different reaction.

Where it began

My love for jewelry began when I was still young.

I remember admiring my grandmother, my Lola Dada, when she was visiting the Philippines. I was probably in grade school. She wore a shiny gold crucifix necklace, and I remember looking at it constantly without saying anything.

There was something about it that fascinated me. It was bright, beautiful, and important-looking. Even at that age, I understood that it was not just an ordinary necklace.

Later, my father was preparing to leave for Saudi Arabia. I told him that I wanted a gold necklace too, but I wanted mine to be heart-shaped.

I did not understand how expensive gold jewelry was for our family at that time. I only knew that I loved the way it looked and that I wanted something that felt special.

My father bought me the necklace.

Unfortunately, the necklace eventually ended up in a pawnshop, and we were never able to buy it back.

I still remember that.

Perhaps that is one reason jewelry means so much to me today. Jewelry can be beautiful, but it can also represent sacrifice, love, hope, and the circumstances of a particular season in life. Sometimes, a piece is lost but the memory attached to it remains.

Rosenthal Jewels California was born from all of these feelings.

It is inspired by my belief that jewelry can be a celebration, a spiritual reminder, a personal symbol, a lucky charm, a family memory, or simply something beautiful that makes you happy when you look at it.

Not every piece needs to have the same meaning.

One person may wear gold because it makes them feel protected. Another may wear a diamond because it reminds them of their strength. Someone else may choose a piece because it marks a birthday, a new business, a marriage, a personal victory, or a new beginning.

And sometimes, you do not need a reason at all.

Sometimes you simply love the sparkle.
